The Empty Plate podcast is a food and culture podcast exploring the stories of access, identity, and memorythrough the dishes that shape us.

Empty dinner plates, used silverware, glasses, and leftover food on a red tablecloth from a recently finished meal.

In each episode, I sit down with creatives and cultural voices who inspire me; people working at the intersection of food, art, and identity.

Through three meaningful dishes from their lives, we uncover stories of memory, belonging, and transformation.

I have found that it’s often within the reflection of during these memeoris of sustenance that many guest including myself begin to realise how important food has been in shaping both their inner and outer world.

Why an empty plate?

An empty plate is a symbol of access, representing those who can eat, and those who cannot. I chose this name because behind every story of access or its absence, there is a human being navigating life through the lens of our most basic right: the right to food.

At its heart, The Empty Plate is a podcast about all forms of access across our food system. Rooted in the values of SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, it invites thoughtful dialogue around equity, sustainability, and shared responsibility. With each episode, we lean on our guests to help share one simple but powerful message: food is for all.

A white empty plate with text that says, 'An empty plate is a symbol of access. Food is our collective first right.'
